A Project of Shanghai Astronomy Museum Is Granted the Title of “2023 Shanghai Star of Excellence in Urban Digital Transformation”

Recently, the Shanghai Urban Digital Transformation Experience Week opened, and units that successfully launched projects that unveiled key scene demonstration tasks for urban digital transformation were awarded licenses. The Shanghai Astronomy Museum Digital Twin Parallel World Project was awarded the "2023 Shanghai Star of Excellence in Urban Digital Transformation." Among the first batch of 74 scene demonstration creation units, seven won this honor. The results of the Digital Twin Parallel World Project of Shanghai Astronomy Museum had previously passed on-site acceptance by the expert group of Shanghai Municipal Economy and Information Technology Commission. It is the only institution in the smart culture field on the list.

The Shanghai Astronomy Museum Digital Twin Parallel World Project focuses on new opportunities in digital transformation and explores the innovative application of digital technology in large-scale cultural venues. Based on the expansion and extension of the physical space of physical venues, it focuses on solving needs such as audience visits, popular exhibition experience, and access to cutting-edge science knowledge, and strives to create an immersive metaverse scene in the museum. 

Through the first immersive experience "2+2+2" framework — 2 types of immersive metaverse journeys, 2 large metaverse interactive science experience scenes and 2 types of interactive experience communication channels, Shanghai Astronomy Museum Metaverse realizes the empowerment in three aspects, i.e., immersive spatial connection, unbounded exhibition education and smart services, to provide the public with higher-quality science culture supply and experience under the development of digital cultural tourism.
